Three weeks on this day I will be back in Lexington Massachusetts. Where has the time gone? So much has happened since I last blogged. A beautiful fellow UMASS chick visited me in Melbourne, Shaina. She’s studying abroad on the Gold Coast so it was just a quick flight to run into my arms! The day she arrived we weren’t planning on going out, and then all of a sudden my Swedish friend Sara and her friend Ida convinced us to join them on Chapel Street. This street really reminds me of Newbury St. in Boston. Cute little shops but also a couple clubs and bars that are overpriced.
We went to this place called onesixone, and fifteen dollars later we were engulfed by music bumping up against our ear drums and a dance floor lighting up like Saturday Night Fever. Embracing the John Travolta within, I immediately gravitated towards the disco balls. We danced the night away, and despite irritating attitudes given to us by the cab line when we called to catch one, we made our way back home.
The next night we decided to take it easy and watch some movies to prepare for going to the casino the next night! Crown casino is a very bright magical place. Going from almost complete darkness outside, to truly being blinded by the light inside is an experience to say the least. Your pupils adjust as your wallets squeal in terror. My first time legally being able to gamble, I had a blast. Shaina and I got these badass drinks that gave me a brain freeze just looking at it. Mom let’s go get one of these together sometime! And no, I did not really win any money…I barely gambled…but my friend Sarah did and so did Shaina! Go girls.
Sadly, Shaina had to return back to the Gold Coast the next day. BUT I will be seeing her this summer and back at UMASS, so it was more of a ‘see you later’ than a ‘goodbye.’
The next week we had the Booze Cruise! We basically dressed up nice and got to go on a cute little boat with an open bar and cheesy DJ. It was basically a drunk CSW Boat Dance. It was loads of fun dressing up and seeing everyone in fancy clothes. Everyone looked great! Classically got Maccas on the way home, so yummy.
Then I patiently awaited for the beautiful Lizzy Shum to finally visit me! Or as Momma B-F likes to say, pa rum pa pum SHUMM. Lizzy and I literally did a slow motion run into each other’s arms cry session, it was a beautiful thing. Then we immediately went out that night with my friends! Showing her the true ressi Aussie life on campus at Deakin. The next night we had a beautiful Wednesday sesh, including new performers and old performers. The entertainment was beautiful and ranged from covers to originals to spoken word to a capella.
My fellow Pep Light member Dimitri did a fantastic spoken word monologue & poem duo. SO SPEAKING OF PEP LIGHT! Shout out Kirsten, Naj, and Dimitri!!! Please please check us out on YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram! We are working on more videos to come and explain what we’re doing and where we want to go from here, so stay tuned for greatness.

Anyway, Thursday happened to be Super Thursday, just like Super Tuesday, you just start drinking during the day with everyone on res and then go out that night to a club, specifically we went to the Hawthorne.
I brought the infamous gin bin over to Australia and it was a hit! We danced the night away and had another night of relaxation on Friday night.
During the day we explored the city and found some beautiful graffiti.

“The arts are a proven platform for enriched and positive understanding of ourselves and the world in which we live”
Saturday was the big night:: Figure out how to help Lizzy catch her flight Sunday morning at 645AM. We decided we should stay out all night in the city so she could catch the skybus to the airport! And we did it.
We went out to a great club called rats and then went to the casino again. At 330am we brought her to the station and after numerous tearful goodbyes she was off to Sydney and then Singapore.
On Tuesday we had another unit function–DISNEY! And it was traveling one! G1 G2 G3 G4 and H4 all participated together in the best traveling unit function that ever existed! Jake and I decided to be pirates from Pirates of the Caribbean (Yes, it is Disney) drink rum like the true pirates we are, and travel around in a cardboard boat with our deadly cardboard swords. With an anchor and flag included, we were a huge hit.

Jake, Bekah, and Maddie : Fellow pirate, Jake Sparrow, Cruella De Ville, and Piglet chilling by a huge mushroom from Wonderland
We began in H4, totally transformed into Wonderland. From there we traveled through the harsh seas to G1, or Aladdin’s crib. Then we pulled up our anchor again and sailed to my home, G2, now under the sea with Ariel. I’m on a boat was played. G3 was beautifully decorated as the Jungle Book. And we finally ended with the first Disney movie I ever saw in theatres – Lion King! As the Lion King theme song began, I held up my rum as Simba and prepared for the Palace. Leaving our trusty ship behind, we ventured to the tram and again danced the night away with our peers dressed up as silly crazy characters and things.
I’m still pretty much in shock that I only have three weeks left, I have so many more things I want to do! I am also still in the process of my Australian-àAmerican dictionary translator, I’ll make millions off this bad boy. Stay tuned as well for a couple more recordings and covers, I’ll be sure to upload and post links on here as I wrap up my time in this beautiful country.
Not even going to begin my goodbyes, that’s for right before the plane ride home.
Sounds like a lot of fun!
