Finding Nemo, Birthdays, Rocking Onesies, UMASS Reunions, and Footy are all pretty SUPER

Hello internet world!

LONG TIME NO SEE! This picture is from a while ago, but I had to share this story. I put on my epic classic Chelsea Pokémon shirt, and showed it to my lovely roommate Eliza (shout out beautiful girl!) who proceeded to ask me if I was being serious about wearing it out. UMASS kids, you know this girl’s fashion sense–of COURSE I would be wearing this shirt out! Let’s get real. Now Australia hopefully gets me.

Also, typical, I probably got more compliments from wearing this shirt than I do from other ‘nicer’ ‘cuter’ outfits. Go figure.

ANYWAY, sorry it has been so long since I last updated you…especially those at home totally awaiting my every typed word sitting at the edge of your seats….

SO to begin, we have to go back two weeks ago–I know I’ve really been sucking at this whole blog situation.

My partner in crime Sarah and I booked a flight to Cairns on a Saturday. At the airport we met a lovely young man named Markus, who not only started conversation with us because he liked our accents BUT WAS ALSO A PART TIME MAGICIAN. Can you say Chelsea’s dream made? Yes. We spent the next two hours we had to wait watching him do card tricks and having our minds blown. Saying our tearful goodbyes – knowing we would never see him again – we were off to Cairns!

Beautiful lady!

Luckily, this past summer Sarah’s friends met some fantastic Australian Navy people, one of whom so happened to be living in Cairns and said we could stay with him for free, without even having met us! Nice Australians: 1 Non-existant Nice Americans: 0. Adrian, who we stayed with, was awesome enough to pick us up from the airport and let us settle in at his apartment. That night he brought us out on the town and introduced us to a number of his other Navy friends! Saying they were all nice would be an understatement. No stupid American jokes were made while they bought us drinks and danced the night away with us.

The next morning my new Aussie pal Chris brought me to brunch where I ate this unidentifiable meal! Taste buds decided to take an adventure. PROUD MOM?! Who would have ever thought this would be going into Chelsea Mara Rose Mollie B-F’s mouth. NOT ME! (Author’s note: Yes, everyone who ever wondered what B-F stood for, the mystery lives on. And yes, Momma B-F decided to give me three middle names. What of it?! Wanna fight?! IT’S CALLED ORIGINALITY AND BEING UNIQUE. Momma B-F = the original gangster)

IMG_1986                                    THE HECK!? ———->

On our trip we also went to The Great Barrier Reef! We searched and searched for Nemo, but alas he decided to hide from us that day – what a prick. But hey we still looked mad sexy looking for him!

After Cairns we headed to Sydney, where again, we were two of the luckiest girls around and had another place to stay for free. Sarah’s godfather’s brother who has been here with his wife for work for the past two years let us come into their home and fed us almost every meal, as well as providing an unlimited supply of movies. HUZZAH! The first day we got there it was absolutely beautiful, and they brought us to this delicious Thai food restaurant. Again. Thai Food. In Chelsea’s mouth?! What is going on….CHELSEA, AUSTRALIA HAS CHANGED YOU! Yep.

Now you see it

 NOW YOU DON’T!

Anddddd his wife made us bacon around 11pm and I was in heaven.

The next day unfortunately it rained the entire day, but Sarah and I needed a day to relax. We watched movies literally all day and we were well rested for our adventures which were about to ensue!

The next morning we were taken out to breakfast where I had a gorgeous plate of waffles, and a little cup of bacon. The waiter seemed disgusted that I wanted bacon with my waffles and I was just like ‘Hop off my dick, bro.’ So he did, and proceeded to bring me my BACON! My preciousssss.

We then took a ferry into the city. The weather wasn’t ideal, but we lived it UP. We saw the opera house and the bridge, and even though it was pouring we ventured around the city like it was our last day on Earth.

Like the awesome quality of these photos?! IT WAS TAKEN ON MY PHONE! Don’t believe it?! Get my dad’s apps!! Hueless and Huemore are the new best things since peanut butter and jelly! YOU WON’T REGRET IT!

Moving on….after we ran around in the rain we finally found Patty’s Market, which is basically little shops where you barter and suchs. We also shopped around in the mall right next to it and got people from back home souvenirs and presenttssssssss!!!! Get pumped kids! We also decided we had to buy onesies. As a faithful member of the G-block unit of the student village, I am proud to call myself a G-unit Giraffe and prance around Sydney in a giraffe onesie. Sarah decided to rep the Deakin Dragons! Disclaimer: We have no shame and really did walk around Sydney in these with confidence and honor.

UMASS SHOUTOUT TO BRIAN SUPPPPP. Brian, a fellow Sociology major UMASS student, has been doing an internship in Sydney since January and said we could crash at his place one night and he would take us out on the town and paint that shit red! And paint it red we did!

He also didn’t believe me when I told him about our onesies, so imagine his face when he found me in his living room like this.

Out on the town! UMASS REUNION!

IMG_0031

And the next day, the weather was finally perfect! Especially since we wanted to go to the ZOO!!! All you who are reading my blog because you have nothing else to do, and you decide to take away one thing from my trip of crazy antics, if you ever visit Sydney – GO TO THE ZOO. VISIT THIS WONDERFUL PLACE OF MAGICAL ANIMALS AND WONDER.

Not even zoomed in–that’s how close she came to the glass.

Of course I had to wear the onesie to be accepted by my own kind.

AND I FINALLY SAW KANGAROOS – about goddamn time!

That night we went out for chinese food and were again treated to our meal – so spoiled, but so yummy.

The next morning we came back to our new home Melbourne! It’s such a nice feeling thinking of Melbourne as home now. We don’t feel like complete foreigners anymore. I really enjoyed Sydney, but I definitely prefer Melbourne. The transportation system is a lot simpler and it just feels so homey! I love it.

The night we came home we were invited to our friend Luke’s 21st birthday. Americans back home – do not be deceived, just because it was a 21st doesn’t mean it was an absolute shit show. In reality, 21st birthday parties in Australia are actually very classy and nice. They usually rent out a space or have it at their homes with their family around! And the birthday person’s best friends write ‘speeches’ that usually embarrass the host or are very heart-felt and suchs. So very different from our 21st parties. I got to teach a couple Australians how to play beer pong and it was so much fun seeing the joy on their faces when they got a ball into the cup. So proud of them.

The next day was my friend Jake’s 20th birthday and again we celebrated! So many birthdays, so little time.

Last Tuesday it was called as Super Tuesday. What is Super Tuesday, you ask? Well, the Super Tuesday caller, decides a random day when it will be Super ____. This day it was decided to be a Tuesday. This means that you literally drink all day. I know what you’re thinking – Classic Chelsea, she definitely drank all day, then! WRONG!!!! I actually went to my classes…and then when I came home I started to partake in the festivities. Don’t judge. Everyone then went to the palace and had an amazing time.

That Thursday we had our unit function!!! G-WHAT?! G-SPOT! G-WHAT?! G-SPOT! Our theme was ABC theme – so Anything But Clothes.

IMG_2159

I immediately knew I had to use my amazing creativeness and construct the best outfit ever. And construct the best outfit ever, I did. I made a skirt out of red solo cups, a shirt out of duct tape, and a backpack out of a goon box.

Outfits in my unit ranged from trash bags to aluminum foil! It was a really fun time hanging out with everyone in G-block and playing games and bonding. We had to make a mummy out of someone from our unit and we won against G-1 and G-3.

This past Sunday I finally got to go to a footy game! FO FREE. Thanks again Study Abroad Club! It is SUCH a cool game. After seeing this game….sorry to say but American Football players just seem lame now. In footy they actually play for 2 hours, don’t have pads, and beat the shit out of each other. It’s such a fun game and actually not that confusing to understand. The Melbourne Cricket Grounds is beautiful and even a rainbow came out when we watched the game!

One thing I’ve noticed – Australian boys LOVE taking selfies.

The night was brought to a perfect end when I got to make a fort with my best pal Jake and watch Harry Potter dubbed over.

I LOVE AUSTRALIA.

  1. This is a really fun entry. Love the solo cup skirt. Boston is slowly getting back to normal, but it will take time. Thanks goodness everyone we know is safe. I am enjoying relaxing on vacation. Love, Momma B-F
